Inspiring Quilt Colourways: Orange & Blue-Green

Orange & Blue-Green Quilts

I'm kicking off a new series of blog posts that are sure to inspire your next quilt project. Each post in the "Inspiring Quilt Colourways" series will feature a Ships & Violins pattern in a unique colourway.

I encourage you to borrow these colourful design ideas as you please! You may even want to print out the image grid below and head to your local quilt shop for colour matching. Be sure to tag @shipsandviolins or send a direct email to info@shipsandviolins.com if you bring one of these designs to life!

Colourway: Clementine & Pine

The debut colour combination has a hint of festive cheer without borrowing too heavily from the classic choices. I've coined this combination "Clementine & Pine" - a delight for the senses.

Below are six mockups of Lyra's Hymn, the fourth star in the Ships & Violins Constellations Series

Each of the mockups feature the six colours in the Clementine & Pine palette showcasing the versatility of the pattern. The six colours came together by building a gradient of lighter tones starting with a rich burnt orange and seafoam blue-green.

The bolder quilts feature the saturated orange and blue-green as their background - a real hit of colour! While the softer quilts use the apricot and mint tones for their backdrop - a quieter version that makes the star standout.

Neutral Quilt Background

And if all that colour has you nervous, choose five of the colours in the palette to make your star motif on a neutral background. The white background below is a classic choice that allows the stars to take centre stage.

Cristina De Miranda

Cristina De Miranda has been crafting and creating since her early years watching Art Attack. A tactile world of colour, pattern, and design appeared before her when a colleague introduced her to quilting in 2018. Cristina quickly dusted off her sewing machine and dived into a plethora of designer fabrics. Today, she is totally and irreversibly immersed in a whimsical world called Ships & Violins.
